eDiscovery pricing, published in full
$3,250/ month
$3,394 a month all in, with the $1,725 ingestion fee spread over the 12-month term.
Per private instance on a 12-month agreement. Month-to-month is $3,770 a month, so the agreement saves about 14%, $6,240 a year.
On a walkthrough we will price your matters line by line against this sheet.
Every rate we charge appears on this page. The one figure we quote rather than publish is ingestion above 1 TB at onboarding. No rate is held back for a sales call. Who publishes it is on the about page.

One rate replaces the whole per-gigabyte invoice. The Fee Field Guide decodes the line items this rate replaces, and the cost calculator models it against what you pay now.
Standard, with the AI Suite when you want it
How eDiscovery is usually priced, and why the total is hard to predict
Most providers split the cost across five or six separate meters. Each is reasonable on its own; together they make the monthly total a function of how much data the other side produces. The cost guide sets out every fee, with 2026 market ranges.
| Typical fee | How it is charged | Why it moves |
|---|---|---|
| Processing | Per GB ingested, one time | Scales with every new collection and re-collection |
| Hosting | Per GB per month, roughly $5–15 across the market | Recurs every month for the life of the matter |
| User licenses | Per named or active reviewer per month | Penalizes staffing up for a review deadline |
| Productions and exports | Per GB, per page or per production | Charged at exactly the moment you have no choice |
| Project management | Hourly, typically $105 to $175 on published rate cards | Discretionary and rarely capped |
Our answer is a single platform rate, with one meter on a running instance. What that covers is below, and the full capability list sets out what the platform does.
Fees we don't charge
We charge one flat fee per private instance. Most eDiscovery invoices are built from line items. Eight of them never appear on ours, and ingest processing is one flat fee.

Bandwidth beyond the included 10 TB a month is $60 per TB. Ingestion above 1 TB at onboarding is quoted.
A team of 6 pays $450 to $750 a month in seat fees alone on those rate cards. On Kavarn, enjoy no user fees.
The comparison figures come from providers' own public rate cards on Washington State contract No. 10521 (contract 10521). Not every line favors us: support beyond the 8 included hours is $290 an hour, above the $105 to $175 an hour some providers charge for project management. Every rate we charge is on the price sheet. There is no per-user fee and no limit on named users. Each standard instance is sized for about 100 people working at the same time; firms that regularly need more can add a second instance.
Where these figures come from
Every rate on this page is our own published price. The figures below are the market assumptions behind the comparison on the flat-rate page and in the cost calculator, and they are not ours to set.
The $95 user license and the $175 project-management hour come from four providers' own rate cards, published on a state procurement contract. One provider charges exactly $95 a seat; three of the four charge exactly $175 an hour. The hosting range of $5 to $15 per GB per month is a commonly published market figure rather than a rate card. Processing at $6 per GB and the $45 per GB export rate are working assumptions with no published source, and are recorded as such in our facts register.
What the $3,250 monthly rate includes
Provisioned to your firm alone. Items marked with an asterisk are included allowances with a published overage rate beyond them.
| Component | Included |
|---|---|
| Private, dedicated instance | 16 vCPU · 16 GB RAM · 2 TB NVMe |
| Archimedes eDiscovery platform | Platform license, no per-user limit |
| Bandwidth | 10 TB per month * |
| Managed support | 8 hrs per month, Mon–Fri 9 AM–4 PM Eastern Time * |
| Daily backups | Automated and retained |
| Tamper-evident audit log | Immutable, exportable by database or production |
* Included amount. Usage beyond it bills at the overage rates below. Archive and cold storage for a matter that is finished but must be kept is a separate paid option, also listed there.
The AI Suite, a paid add-on
AI features run on an AI-enabled GPU for your instance, shared as standard, with dedicated GPUs on request. They are not part of the standard package. The AI Suite is priced like a second platform rate on the same term.
| Term | Standard | AI Suite add-on | Both together |
|---|---|---|---|
| 12-month agreement | $3,250 / mo | +$3,250 / mo | $6,500 / mo |
| Month to month | $3,770 / mo | +$3,770 / mo | $7,540 / mo |
| Year one, with ingestion | $40,725 | Not applicable | $79,725 |
On the 12-month term the two together save $12,480 a year against month to month, $6,240 on each. Year one on the 12-month term with both, including the $1,725 ingestion fee, is $79,725.
What it is, and what it is not
- An add-on, not a plan. It cannot be bought on its own. It attaches to a standard plan, at sign-up or later, and it can be dropped later.
- It changes no allowance. Users, vCPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, support hours and ingestion are exactly what they are without it.
- Every overage rate is unchanged. The rates below apply the same way with the AI Suite as without it.
- No usage charges. There is no per-document, per-gigabyte, per-token or per-hour AI charge.
How long it takes to switch on
- On a 12-month agreement, no added delay. The AI-enabled GPU is provisioned with the instance.
- Month to month, typically 4 to 6 weeks, date confirmed at sign-up. The GPU is additional hardware and the lead time is what it is; we confirm the date rather than estimate it.
The feature list is being finalized. We will not publish one before it is confirmed, and a walkthrough is where we show what is running today.
One-time fees and terms
| Fee | Amount |
|---|---|
| Ingestion, charged on every agreement | $1,725 |
| Ingestion preparation assistance, per hour | $175 |
| Rush ingestion, in addition to the ingestion fee | $1,725 |
Ingestion loads up to 1 TB of your data at onboarding. Bates stamping and OCR are part of it, covered for that first 1 TB. Above 1 TB at onboarding, ingestion is quoted.
Ingestion preparation assistance is work needed before data can be loaded, such as converting files to PDF or organizing folders.
Rush ingestion is charged in addition to the ingestion fee when you ask us to compress the onboarding schedule, and is confirmed in writing before work starts. Ingestion above 1 TB at onboarding is quoted, and that quote covers any expedited work.
| Term | Rate |
|---|---|
| 12-month agreement | $3,250/mo |
| Month-to-month No included customization allowance | $3,770 / mo |
Scale up at any time on 24 hours' notice. Dedicated instances scale up only, so capacity added mid-term stays for the remainder of the term.
Overage rates
On-demand rates that apply beyond the included allowance or an active bundle, and one paid option that has no included allowance. Bandwidth is the only meter on a running instance. To see what a collection's size means in practice, the volume translator converts GB to pages and review hours.
| Resource | Included | Beyond included | Rate |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bandwidth | 10 TB/mo | Metered per TB, or a bundle | $60 / TB |
| Managed support | 8 hrs/mo | Blocks or ad-hoc | $290 / hr |
| Storage | 2 TB | Scale-up, provisioned | Bundle |
| Archive and cold storage | None | Inactive matters, per GB | $4 / GB / mo |
Optional upgrade bundles
Committed monthly add-ons for firms that need more capacity, priced below the on-demand overage rate.
| Bundle | Adds | Price / mo |
|---|---|---|
| Storage +2 TB | Provisioned NVMe | $345 |
| Storage +5 TB | Provisioned NVMe | $805 |
| Bandwidth +10 TB | Raises allowance to 20 TB · $40/TB | $400 |
| Bandwidth +25 TB | Raises allowance to 35 TB · $35/TB | $875 |
| Support +5 hrs | 13 hrs/mo managed support | $1,450 |
| Support +10 hrs | 18 hrs/mo managed support | $2,900 |
Customization, defined by hours rather than by description
Every request gets a written estimate and your approval before work starts. A maximum of 1 is in progress at a time, and 2 per quarter.
Minor: up to 2 engineering hours
Configuration, labels, a report template, permission changes, branding. No infrastructure, integration or core platform change. On the 12-month agreement, 3 are included per year, 6 engineering hours in aggregate. On month to month, customization bills at $290 per hour from the first hour.
Major: 2 to 8 hours
Work that touches the platform or adds behavior. Scoped and quoted in writing before anything begins.
Project: over 8 hours
Integrations, data migration, model integration, new infrastructure, security and compliance work. Always quoted.
Work beyond the included allotment on the 12-month agreement, all customization on month to month, and all major and project work, bills at $290 per hour.
Two hourly rates, for two different kinds of work: ingestion preparation assistance is $175 per hour, and support and customization are $290 per hour.

Pricing questions
Does the standard plan include AI?
No. The standard plan includes no AI features. AI comes with the AI Suite add-on at $3,250 a month on a 12-month agreement or $3,770 a month on month to month. The add-on attaches to a standard plan at sign-up or later, can be dropped later, and runs on an AI-enabled GPU, shared as standard, with dedicated GPUs on request.
Can I buy the AI Suite on its own?
No. It is added to a standard plan, either at sign-up or later, and it can be dropped later. There is no AI-only plan.
Does the AI Suite increase my allowances?
No. Users, vCPU, RAM, storage, bandwidth, support hours and ingestion are the same with it as without it, and every overage rate is unchanged. There are no AI-specific usage charges.
How long does AI provisioning take?
On a 12-month agreement there is no added delay: the GPU is provisioned with the instance. On month to month it is typically 4 to 6 weeks, and we confirm the date at sign-up.
How much does eDiscovery cost per month?
Kavarn is $3,250 per month per private instance on a 12-month agreement. Month-to-month is $3,770 a month, so the 12-month agreement saves about 14%, $6,240 a year. Across the wider market, eDiscovery hosting is typically billed per gigabyte at roughly $5 to $15 per GB per month, with processing, user licenses and productions charged separately.
Is there a per-gigabyte charge for eDiscovery hosting?
Not for hosting on your instance. Storage is provisioned rather than metered: the instance includes 2 TB, and more is added in fixed monthly bundles rather than billed per gigabyte. On a running instance, bandwidth is the only meter, with 10 TB included per month and $60 per TB beyond that, or a committed bundle at a lower rate. The one per-gigabyte charge is archive storage for finished matters, at $4 per GB per month, and it is optional.
What is the ingestion fee for eDiscovery hosting?
A one-time $1,725 ingestion fee applies on every agreement, 12-month and month-to-month alike. It loads up to 1 TB of your data at onboarding, and Bates stamping and OCR are part of it, covered for that first 1 TB. Ingestion above 1 TB at onboarding is quoted. Preparation work needed before data can be loaded bills at $175 per hour. If you need onboarding on a compressed schedule, a $1,725 rush fee applies in addition to the ingestion fee, confirmed in writing before work starts.
Are there per-user fees for eDiscovery software?
Not on this platform. It is a platform license with no seat limit, so adding reviewers, paralegals or contract attorneys does not change the invoice.
